MJ Scores Rumble Win, But Mia Retains

BRYAN, TX - The third Aggieland Rumble match lived up to its hype and reputation, with 30 wrestlers vying for the chance to challenge for a title at night’s end. Only one could survive, and that one was MJ SANTANA.

The lone woman in the elimination match, Santana entered the contest 21st and outlasted the other 29 competitors. The final third of the match was largely dominated by Santana, her boyfriend SHIMBASHI, and Shimbashi’s newfound friends, MATHAYUS, PRINCE LY and DEVON DEVILLE. The fivesome were all in at the same time once Shimbashi joined at 28 and would work well together to earn eliminations and avoid their own.

Ultimately, it would come down to the power couple when Santana and Shimbashi knocked the last Aggieland Rumble match’s winner, ZANE VALERO, out. Shimbashi had attempted to eliminate Santana just minutes earlier, so MJ had no hesitation in dumping her boyfriend over the top rope and to the floor, winning another classic Lions Pride Sports match.

With the win, Santana had the choice of challenging Lions Pride Sports Champion MIA FRIDAY or Lions Den Champion TRENT MERCER. MJ decided to go after her longtime rival Friday and the biggest prize in The Pride. Despite having been in the rumble match just minutes earlier, Santana put in a title-worthy effort against Friday. Shimbashi would emerge from the back and offer his assistance to his girlfriend, only for her to refuse the help, adding another layer of disagreement between the two. Mia would end up pulling off the victory and retaining the title not long after, and in her celebration, she offered a show of respect to Santana for a remarkable effort.

In between the rumble match and the title contest, Mercer was challenged to a match by another fan favorite, PAC ORTEGA, who had a strong showing in the rumble. The Lions Den Champion agreed to give Ortega a shot at his title if he won their match, which would be a deviation from tradition because Pac had not been trained at The Lions Den. That rule would not be tested, though, because HOSTAGE HIRSCH once again interfered in Mercer’s affairs, attacking both wrestlers and forcing a no contest ruling. This marks the fourth consecutive event Hirsch has attacked his former tag team partner for reasons that still aren’t fully clear.

Additional notes from the Aggieland Rumble match:

  • SECURITY GUY was the ironman of the match, entering the contest third and lasting until the final four, being eliminated by Santana.

  • The Bad Boys of Wrestling were not only unable to thrive together in the match, the ended up eliminating each other. KOOL DADDI DENZELL (entering at 4) and RODZILLA (11) initially found success together, but an attempted elimination of another competitor led to the accidental elimination of Denzell by Rodzilla. THE MOUNTAIN was the 14th wrestler to join, but as the 600-pounder was knocking SPACE TIGER, JR. and COSMO out, he also send Rodzilla to the floor. Mountain would collide with fellow giant DRAKE DURDEN when he entered at 16, but all the other active wrestlers combined to send both big men out.

  • BOOKER T’S protege in the WWE Hall of Famer’s Reality of Wrestling promotion, GASPAR HERNANDEZ made his presence felt, as the powerhouse tossed a plethora of athletes around. Eventually, the match’s first entrant, HASTUR, would charge into conflict with Hernandez, send all the other competitors scrambling. Gaspar would eliminate Hastur, then get ganged up on and eliminated himself. Hastur and Hernandez would brawl all the way to the back.

  • DJ AUSTIN would join the match in the sixth position and immediately initiate a dance off. While he would not last long in the contest, “OUTLAW’ J. AUSTIN would return to The Pride in the 29th position. He, too, would quickly be eliminated, and without dancing.
