Champions Retain on the Night Fans Decide Matches
COLLEGE STATION, TX - On a night of uncertainty being guided by the fans’ choices, both title holders in Lions Pride Sports were able to come away from our Pick Your Poison event with their belts.
ZANE VALERO is still the Lions Pride Sports Champion, having survived a familiar but first-time challenger, MJ SANTANA. The previous month, Santana’s boyfriend SHIMBASHI executed a contract and beat an exhausted and distracted Valero to win the Lions Den Championship, which Valero had just earned. Thanks to a random draw by a random-selected fan during the Valero Vision segment early in the night, Santana got the opportunity to take The Pride’s other piece of gold and bring it to the self-proclaimed power couple of the promotion. MJ would immediately sneak attack Valero, doing damage to the champ’s shoulder.
That injury would be the focus of the challenger in their main event encounter. A series of strikes and submissions over the course of their match put Valero’s reign in serious peril. However, even with it mitigated, Valero's power advantage combined with his perseverance kept the biggest prize in The Pride with him. A massive urinage sealed the deal.
It wasn’t all bad news for the couple, as Shimbashi retained the Lions Den Championship in his first defense. The challenger was TKO JOE, who won a six-person battle royal in the night’s opening match. Fans not only randomly chose the match concept, but also the title opportunity. Unsurprisingly, Santana would make her presence felt, distracting Joe and leading to “The Canadian Dragon” scoring the win.
In other action at Pick Your Poison:
JAY ALEXANDER and NOBE BRYANT were put into a submission match via a fan’s random choice, but it was one of the series of holds that finished the contest. With the referee knocked down, Alexander pulled out some sort of medicinal liquid, put it on a towel, then put the towel over Bryant’s face. The referee came to with Alexander putting Bryant in a hold, but Nobe was already unconscious. “The Texas Terminator” was declared the winner.
Having shown up at The Lions Den in recent weeks, we had the debut of PRINCE LY, who declared he was the wealthiest person in The Pride and the only person of sitting at the company’s throne. A fan would randomly select the vicious HASTUR as Ly’s first opponent. The odds seemed stacked against the newcomer, but money ultimately would talk. Prince swiped Hastur’s beloved mask and paid a fan to run away with it. Hastur would chase after the fan and regain his mask and the money, but was counted out, giving the win to the pompous Prince in his debut. Hastur would throw the cash out to the fans to anger an otherwise elated Ly.
MATHAYUS continued his winning ways with help from his recently reunited manager, DEVON DEVILLE. The fan-chosen opponent, PAC ORTEGA, put up a hard-hitting, significant challenge, but a DeVille distraction opened the door for Mathayus to pick up the victory.
DRAKE DURDEN and TRENT MERCER collided once again, this time at random. The seven-footer who has been facing off against Onslaught in tag team action over recent months faced one-half of that team and picked up a win with a chokeslam.
