The Champs Reluctantly Team and Win
BRYAN, TX - The hunt for gold is on in The Pride with a pair of new champions, but at our Macho Madness event, the title holders were made to team up.
“OUTLAW” J. AUSTIN opened the event at Savage Brew Lab saying no one wanted to challenge him for the Lions Pride Sports Championship he won six days earlier at Here to Stay. That declaration was quickly met by the now-former champion, DRAKE DURDEN, then by THE MOUNTAIN. The two big men were then joined by the new and first Lions Den Champion MATHAYUS. Lions Pride Sports Owner HOUSTON CARSON decided to make a tag team match, with the two champions on one side and the two men seeking titles on the other.
Throughout the contest, the champs did not find themselves on the same page, though they did have success keeping their combined 900-pound opponents down. However, as the giants found their way back into the match, the title belts came into play. Mathayus was given his belt to use, but opted against it. Instead, with the referee distracted, “Outlaw” used his title on The Mountain, leading to a Mathayus spear and a win. After the match, “The Headline” was certainly frustrated by Austin, but it was another win for both men. The night didn’t end well for “Outlaw,” though, as Durden hit a chokeslam on the man who took his title.
