Still Dripping in Lions Pride Sports Gold

BRYAN, TX - The more things change, the more they stay the same, and the Davidson Drip still includes Lions Pride Sports’ top prize.

It seems with RYAN DAVIDSON as Lions Pride Sports Champion, new standards may be in the process of being set. “The Bear from Bellaire” ruthlessly retained the title at Into the Fire 2, but in a match against MATHAYUS, not the scheduled opponent DRAKE DURDEN.

Prior to the opening bell of their main event contest, Davidson swung the title belt into Durden’s knee, then launched an extended assault against it. Having chopped down his seven-foot challenger, the champ declared he could take on anyone from the locker room. As Davidson was about to cause career-threatening damage to Durden’s leg, out came “The Headline,” who had begun the event with a hard-fought win in a highly competitive rubber match with Davidson’s buddy, JAY ALEXANDER.

The opening contest had no disqualifications, and Mathayus and Alexander brutalized each other, indicative of the physical and mental suffering we’ve seen them inflict on each other since March. A spear ultimately secured the win for The Lions Den product, who later would challenge for the biggest prize in The Pride.

That match, too, was the knock-down, drag-out war you would expect from the two competitors. We’re also coming to expect a few other things, like Alexander trying to assist his fellow Reality of Wrestling star. The conclusion of the match saw “The Purveyor of Punishment” interfere, only for him to eat one more spear. But as the referee attempted to remove Alexander, we got one more new tradition, as Davidson struck Mathayus with gold. Just like when he won the title from BARRETT BROWN, Davidson retained it on this night thanks to a blow with the belt.

In other action at Into the Fire 2:

  • Having dropped their 3-on-2 encounter with LANCE ARCHER and Durden at Return of the Giant 2 the previous month, The Trifecta returned to the winning ways in a pair of competitive contests that required underhanded tactics to secure victory. CHAVY CHULO defeated the debuting JOHNNY LYONS from ROW while holding one of the ropes. Then, MIKE DELL got an assist from Chulo to eventually top Lions Den standout SHIMBASHI courtesy of a Dellbow. When CADE CARSON rejoins his brethren, the Trifecta mayhem will surely ramp up.

  • MIA FRIDAY continued her series of matches against some of Texas’s best talent, and she kept up her winning ways, too. “The Submission Savvy” KILLA KATE showed up for the first time in The Pride and showed out, but an M.I.A. from Friday sealed another W for her.

  • The Gen-Z Open Challenge issued by ZANE VALERO did not result in an end to his losing streak. Another ROW up-and-comer, BLAKE CORTEZ, made his return to Bryan and left with a win. Chaos ensued after the match, as KOOL DADDI DENZELL came out to confront his rival Valero, eventually hitting a Kool Kutter. Then, THE UNKNOWN made his return and continued his targeting of Denzell, leaving him and his manager LIEUTENANT DAN lying.
