Carson, Durden Become Co-Champions
FEBRUARY 29, 2020 - The challenge was unprecedented. So was one of the possible outcomes of the match. And in College Station, that outcome came to fruition: CADE CARSON and DRAKE DURDEN are co-Lions Pride Sports Champions.
Ahead of Leap Year and Chill, the cocky Carson noted that NOBE BRYANT had overcome significant odds as champion, including multi-person matches and underhanded coordination from The Brand. Carson pushed that button in asking for a title match for both himself and his insurance policy, the near-seven-foot Durden. Bryant took the challenge, hellbent on putting the youngster and his big buddy in their place.
Unfortunately for the champ, his 176-day reign was ended despite a typically valiant effort. Bryant’s divide and conquer strategy was only successful to a point, and clearly not at the end, as Durden held Nobe for three super kicks from Carson, who got the pin and the win for the duo.
At Smitty K’s, the same venue where Cade Carson beat his trainer and cousin HOUSTON CARSON in the latter’s final match, Cade made history with his new partner. As we face this unprecedented reality in The Pride, how will Carson and Durden defend the title, and against who?
In other action:
MIKE DELL retained the 360 Championship against fellow Brand member JORDAN LENNOX and former Brand member MAX CASTELLANOS. Lennox hit Castellanos with the belt, knocking Max into a roll-up by Dell and a three-count. Despite some dissension in the contest, it appeared Dell and Lennox were fine with each other post-match, at least until Castellanos cleared the ring and stood tall.
MATHAYUS remained undefeated, beating a game KOOL DADDI DENZELL. Mathayus heads into Fight Night this coming Friday in Downtown Bryan with a match against the returning former Lions Pride Sports Champion MOONSHINE MANTELL.
In a violent encounter, THE MOUNTAIN topped STEWY THE CANNIBAL CLOWN in a match Lions Pride Sports did not sanction. Plenty of items were introduced into the battle. THE RINGMASTER brought handcuffs intending to restrict The Mountain, except the cuffs were turned against him by the big man. With Ringmaster cuffed to the top role, a slam of Stewy into a trash can ultimately led to a pin fall win by The Mountain.
CHAVY CHULO once again relied on help from his new compadre, OSO, and picked up a victory against his former tag partner, KEMONTE ROSS.
